About Me

My name is Carly Russell, and I am a student at Southern Connecticut State University. I am majoring in communications with a concentration in film, TV, and digital production, and minoring in journalism.

I spent my freshman year at Endicott College, majoring in Digital Media Journalism, before I decided to transfer to SCSU. Whenever anyone asks me why I chose my major, I tell them it's because I love stories. As I always say, I am driven to tell meaningful and important stories in a new, impactful, and engaging way. As a current and future content creator, it is my job to engage my audience and ensure that messages and stories are told truthfully, and with purpose.

Throughout and after my career here at SCSU, I hope to become a competent storyteller. I want to take news and information and reinvent how it's told. I want audiences to watch and listen not just because they're interested, but because they care about the message and the purpose behind my work. There's so much to be told and shared in the world of communications and information, and I hope to create content that not only interests, but educates and motivates audiences. I want to take digital storytelling, whether it be photography, film, or any kind of multi-media creation, and use it to inspire positivity, growth and change in both individuals and society.
